Objective

The objective of Australian Patience Solitaire is to move all the cards to the foundation piles, building them up by suit in ascending order from Ace to King. To achieve this, you need to move the cards carefully and work on the best tactics.

Setup

Australian Solitaire is played with a standard 52-card deck. The game begins with seven tableau columns, each with four face-up cards. The rest of the cards form the stockpile, which can be drawn to build the foundations. 

There are four foundation piles that will start empty, and your task is to complete these by moving cards from the tableau and stockpile.

Rules

• You need to build up four foundations in suit from Ace to King.
• There are seven depots in the tableau, filled with four cards each, building down in suit.
• Just like in Yukon Solitaire, you can move any face-up card but all the unrelated cards lying on it will go together with it. An empty space can only be filled with a King (with or without a pile).
• You can turn just one card at a time from the deck, and play it only on the depots or the foundations. In Australian Patience Solitaire, you can only through the deck once, so you need to think carefully before drawing every card, as there is no turning back!

Strategies

• Focus on Suit Sequences: Since cards must be arranged in descending order by suit, it’s crucial to plan your moves carefully to avoid blocking the necessary cards or sequences.
• Use the Stockpile Wisely: Draw cards from the stockpile only when necessary as you can go through it only once.
• King Management: Since only Kings can fill empty columns, try to free them up early in the game to maintain flexibility in the tableau.
• Consider Future Moves: Think ahead. Plan your moves based on potential future scenarios. For example, if you see a possibility to create a sequence that will lead to a move to the foundation, prioritize it.
• Use Empty Piles: Empty piles can be a strategic advantage. Use them to move Kings or to temporarily store cards.
